Hey guys I have a problem, after a update my wifi stopped working and says it is missing the firmware for the Intel Pro/wireless 3945ABG wifi card thats in my old laptop
Offline
Seems to have been removed upstream from the linux firmware packages.
https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/use … s/iwlegacy lists a firmware for this card, maybe you can manually unpack it and put it to /lib/firmware
Anyway, the Arch32 firmware packages should maybe be patched to contain more old legacy firmware?

Would the ucode firmware file go into /lib/firmware or /usr/firmware/intel ? do I need to do anything else?
Yes I agree, this should be patched

Not sure, but the driver in the Linux kernel usually searches for a file in a certain directory in /lib/firmware automatically. Usually it is sufficient
to put the file there (one just has to know where and the name of the file).

Hmm I see and idk where it is meant to go or what the name is supposed to be

iwlwifi-3945-ucode-15.32.2.9.tgz unpacks as iwlwifi-3945-ucode-15.32.2.9/iwlwifi-3945-2.ucode
https://packages.debian.org/search?sear … 45-2.ucode
Debian puts it in /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-3945-2.ucode
