Trying Arch 32 from USB stick

Downloaded archlinux-2018.03.01-i686 and installed on a USB Stick.  Booted the stick on an older 32 bit Toshiba laptop and am left at a command prompt.  Do I need to do something to get a gui or was there a problem with the boot?

Re: Trying Arch 32 from USB stick

By default Archlinux basic install does not provide any graphic driver, window server and desktop environment, you should choice them, install them and you'll get the GUI what you want. In fact, you should do this install process from prompt; you can read more about this in official wiki, which basically follows the equivalent install process than 32bit version.

This behavior is the same in 64bit version, it's related with Arch's philosphy development.

Hmm, so if I understand you correctly, with respect to taking a test drive of Arch I have to do an install to my HDD and then add all these additional components.  I cannot do this on a flash drive, is that correct?
I will read the wiki as you suggest.

That is correct.
However, if you like to have a "rescue/live thumb drive" with a graphical environment, you can create your own usb medium instead.
Have a look into the official wiki.

Mmh. Nice. Now we just have to write a nice GUI installer, and voila.. :-)
