Well, I do on a pentium4, and it does work enabling e.g. in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-radeon.conf:

Driver "radeon", Option "DRI" "3", cf. ATI on the Arch Wiki. Also for (better) OpenGL support I got "LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1" exported.
