Xmonad | XFCE on an IBM ThinkPad R51e (“pentium4” architecture)

cx-tpr51e

Though putting some effort into configuring and customizing (a.k.a. “ricing” in new speak), I doubt I will stay very long with this machine due to still unresolved, dubious severe input trouble in X and/or libinput! Probably some day I’m either going to try wayland or switch to console/framebuffer usage instead.

((edited typo))

Re: Screenshots + Window managers + Hardware

Due to the persisting above mentioned problems I just had to try this one sooner or later on the same machine:

My first install of Sway: ^^
an Arch32 p4 sway shot

So far I like it, and it's light on resources. However, there are some drawbacks, too: probably due to xwayland some apps crash (such as graphical text editors, e.g. mousepad, xed), and I can't get an input method to work~ Ideas anyone?

Edit #1: screenshot update

Edit #2: Those crashes were resolved by another system update including the package "pango" [see this post].

Re: Screenshots + Window managers + Hardware

I can't get sway to accept my input on my eeepc either, but luckily for me libinput in x still works.

Unfortunately I'm unable to comply with the spirit of this thread, because imgur doesn't seem to work under my security settings any more.  It's quite plain though, I was reading LWN's newsfeed under newsboat in full screen with a drop down terminal open to allow me to instruct imagemagick to do a screenshot.  The only remarkable thing about it perhaps is that I use the solarized colour scheme, so all of my black backgrounds are actually a slightly different shade of black so my text in newsboat has a dark brown background, but the actual program background this time is very dark purple.  My window manager is openbox, from a partial (just enough) LXDE install, and barely configured.  Hardware as below.

Try https://bbs.archlinux32.org/upfiles.php, you should be able to upload images to the forum directly and
reference them there as seen in https://bbs.archlinux32.org/viewtopic.php?id=2935
(referencing https://bbs.archlinux32.org/img/members … pc701.png)
The 196109 is a personal area number of sorts..

I assume your first link is misspelled somehow.  I get a bad request in any case.

Re: Screenshots + Window managers + Hardware

Hehe, good. :-)

My biggest question about this extension is: where should it pop up? In a forum edit page would
be logical. I cannot see anywhere reference to upfiles.php in the code..

Re: Screenshots + Window managers + Hardware

Other forums I visit generally have a button next to the preview button for uploading images and other files.  You can't hit that using the quick reply feature, but if you use the reply button it'll take you to the full reply page where you can also preview your post before submitting it.

Edit: Looks to be the same page the site serves you if you hit to quote a message.  It just don't prefill the text area with the quoted text.
