Hi I just wanted to get some help, I have xfce4 but lightdm refuses to start the display manager so I had to switch to lxdm but the issue with that is I don't have proper screen timeout control and it will timeout so I had to install xscreensaver and try and configure it that way even tho I disabled it all in the screen settings

Can anyone help with this at all?

I don't use lightdm these days, I start my lxdeish openbox session by issuing startx from the terminal. And I don't quite understand the timeout issues you're having, are you saying the screen blanks after a time and won't come back even if you wiggle the mouse.? That's unexpected, but if it's doing that I doubt installing xscreensaver would help.

The systemd journal will show some errors, most likely not fullfilled library dependencies.
Also an ldd(tree) on /usr/lib/lightdm would show those.
I tested lightdm yesterday and it worked for me, so this is either an old problem or a new
problem since yesterday. :-)
